In fact the word diet has been wrongly associated with the concept of detoxing; in reality detox is a natural process of purification where free radicals in the body which can be converted into cancerous cells are cured.
Why Detoxing Is Good For You The biggest advantage of detoxing is that it allows the body to rid itself of any excess waste that has been stored. This can lead to weight loss to some extent. When you follow a detox process the organs get freed up to function the way they should. As a result your immune system gets a boost and you absorb nutrients better.
Experts suggest that sticking with fruits and vegetables even after the detox program is completed is a good way to keep things moving. Detoxing can boost your energy levels too, as you are cutting out the intake of toxins and unhealthy food. What is a 3 day reset?
The 3-day gut reset aims to reset the gut microbiome to help boost the beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract. However, there is little evidence that 3-day gut resets have lasting health benefits. While changing the diet and taking steps to lead a healthful lifestyle does benefit gut flora, there is little evidence that 3-day gut resets have lasting health benefits.
This article looks at what a 3-day gut reset is, what it might do, and how to try it. A 3-day gut reset is a short diet that aims to improve digestive health by increasing the amount of beneficial bacteria in a person’s large intestine. Bacteria and other microorganisms in the large intestine help break down food.
This in turn helps the body absorb nutrients and eliminate waste. However, research has shown that gut bacteria influence many other aspects of health, such as immunity and inflammation. This influence can be positive or negative, depending on the species of microbes a person has in their gut.
removing foods that feed harmful bacteria and cause inflammationintroducing plenty of prebiotic foods, which feed beneficial bacteriaencouraging healthful practices, such as getting enough sleep and exercise and staying hydrated
Oftentimes, 3-day gut resets involve adopting habits that are generally beneficial for human health. Eating a healthful, balanced diet and eliminating potentially harmful foods may help people feel better in a variety of ways. However, scientists have not investigated whether a 3-day gut reset can permanently change a person’s microbiome or create lasting health improvements.
- Research has shown that short-term dietary changes do alter a person’s gut flora.
- In a 2013 study, researchers found that bacteria responded rapidly to a sudden change to a plant-based diet.
- This suggests that a 3-day gut reset may positively influence the microbiome during the diet.
- For lasting benefits, however, it may be necessary to implement longer-term changes to diet and lifestyle.
According to a 2017 review, the Mediterranean diet can increase the amount and diversity of beneficial bacteria in the gut, whereas other types of diet may decrease it. The latter include:
the Western diet, or Standard American Diet (SAD)gluten-free diets
The Mediterranean diet includes many of the features of a gut reset, focusing on healthy fats, vegetables, and other sources of fiber. A 3-day gut reset may help a person transition to a diet that includes more of these foods. If a person wants to try a 3-day gut reset, it is a good idea to plan ahead.

What is the 3 day fruit fast?
3-Day Fruit Fast I just completed this fruit fast and love the amazing results!! My skin looks radiant, my eyes are clear; I feel lighter and am infused with more energy!! This fast is a modified way to clean out the system, eating nothing but fresh fruit for three days. Active fasting will allow your body to full empty out and get clean; giving your metabolic organs a chance to rest and renew. The key is planning the meals and snacks ahead of time.
You can eat fruit in all forms: cooked, raw, dried, and frozen. I was a bit worried how I would do around dinnertime but once I was clear on the ” veggie like ” fruits it was not hard to do. I did stir-fry, steam or cook in the oven for lunch and dinner using olive and sesame oil for cooking, and you can season your food as well.
I also made a trail mix with the dried fruits and some nuts as a snack.
The difference between fruits and vegetables is that all fruit has seeds (vegetables are roots, stems, leaves and flowers). Some examples of fruits are: Tomatoes, avocado, peppers (red, yellow, orange, green, jalapeno, etc), yellow squash, zucchini, butternut squash, pumpkin, spaghetti squash, cucumber, nuts and peas (we actually eat the seeds), green beans, eggplant, okra, olives. Apple, apricot, banana, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, cherries, dates, figs, grapefruit, grapes, kiwi, mango, nectarine, orange, papaya, peaches, pear, plum, tangerine, watermelon.
If you want your skin and body to look radiant quickly I can highly recommend this intensive three day fast, very rewarding and great for your overall health! And I will be happy to share recipes. : 3-Day Fruit Fast

Can I drink tea while detoxing?
Green tea seems to be the best tea for detoxing due to its antioxidant properties. Green tea seems to be the best tea for detoxing due to its antioxidant properties. Green tea is manufactured by withering, steaming, or pan firing, drying, and grading the young tea leaves.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and vitamins, which makes it a better choice for detox. Green tea detox is one of the simplest forms of detoxing. It has been claimed that drinking three to six cups of green tea every day helps to flush out toxins from the body. Drinking only green tea throughout for cleansing is the most extreme form of detoxing.
How do you detox your body from smoking?
If you’ve had years of breathing in cigarette smoke, pollution, viruses, and other toxins, the idea of cleaning out your lungs and getting a fresh start can sound very appealing. But if you’re tempted to buy vitamins, teas, or essential oils that say they will “detox” your lungs, save your money, says Joshua Englert, MD, a pulmonologist at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
- There are countless products for sale on the internet that claim to remove toxins from the lungs, but there is no scientific research to support the use of any of them,” he says.
- Thankfully, the lungs are remarkably good at cleaning and repairing themselves in some situations – and there are steps you can take to keep your lungs as healthy as possible.
“If you have an acute illness, such as a pneumonia, or acute bronchitis, in most cases, the lungs will fully recover,” says Norman Edelman, MD, a professor of medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. But after chronic injury, like the damage done from decades of smoking, the lungs can only do so much to repair themselves, he says.
- Smoking causes two kinds of long-term damage to the lungs: emphysema and chronic bronchitis,
- Together, these are known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ).
- In emphysema, the tiny air sacs that exchange oxygen are destroyed.
- In chronic bronchitis, there is inflammation of the airways that lead to the air sacs.
“Once the air sacs are destroyed, they can’t be replaced,” Edelman says. “Though some of the swelling and inflammation from bronchitis can go away, the structural damage will remain.” Still, the earlier you quit smoking, the greater chance you have of repairing some damage.
One large study found that 20 years after quitting smoking, the risk for COPD drops to the same level as if you’d never smoked.A decade after quitting, your risk of dying of lung cancer is roughly half of the risk of someone who smokes.30 years after quitting, the risk of lung cancer drops to nonsmoking levels.
“The sooner you quit smoking, the more likely the lungs are able to heal,” Englert says. “But if you smoke for too long, the damage can become permanent.” While you can’t entirely undo years of damage from cigarette smoking, the best thing you can do to “detox” is to protect your lungs from any further damage, Edelman says.
Here are some proven ways to keep your lungs a clear as possible: Avoid secondhand smoke, While quitting smoking is the most important thing you can do for your lungs, it’s crucial to not breathe in other people’s smoke as well, Edelman says. The combination of the smoke coming from the end of a cigarette, plus the smoke that comes out of the smoker’s mouth, contains hundreds of toxic chemicals; breathing them in can cause everything from lung cancer to stroke, the CDC says.
Stay away from vaping. While doctors are still learning about the long-term risks of e-cigarettes, research has started to uncover some short-term ones. A recent study found that vaping makes your lungs less able to clear out mucus, which can lead to infections.
- The only thing you should inhale into your lungs is pure, clean air and prescribed medications,” Edelman says.
- Nothing else is going to be safe.” Don’t rely on steam therapy.
- Although one very small study found that inhaling warm steam may make people with COPD feel less anxious, it found no effect on how well your lungs worked – and it was too small of a study to even be sure about the findings on anxiety,
“Steam may be helpful for improving the clearance of mucus from your upper airways, including the nose and throat, during a respiratory infection, but it doesn’t make the lungs work better,” Englert says. Prevent infection. Protect your lungs from further harm by getting flu and pneumonia vaccines, frequently washing your hands, and avoiding contact with anyone who has a sniffly nose or other illness.
Steer clear of pollution, indoors and out. The American Lung Association recommends you have your home tested for radon, a toxic gas that can cause lung cancer, (You can find info on testing at the EPA’s website.) Also, make it a habit to vacuum your home regularly using a HEPA filter, and choose cleaning products that are free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), fragrances, and irritants.
If you have a chronic respiratory disease, it can help to track your local air quality and avoid spending time outdoors on days with poor air quality, Englert says. You can go to AirNow.gov or download a free air quality index app, which will alert you when pollution in your area from a fire, industry, or other sources is dangerously high.
- Eat (and drink) a diet rich in antioxidants,
- Eating lots of blueberries or kale salads won’t undo years of damage from smoking.
- But research shows that eating more fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens, berries, and other items rich in antioxidants, may help protect your lungs from some damage due to smoking and air pollution.
A large Korean study found that drinking green tea, which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, may cut your chances of having COPD, but the results aren’t conclusive. While drinking tea can’t hurt, Englert notes that there is no strong evidence it will work.
