Bringing a Mega-Evolved Pokémon into Raid Battles can have a significant impact: other Trainers’ Pokémon will receive a stat boost, with an even higher bonus applied to allied Pokémon that share a type with your Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

Note, however, that these effects are not cumulative—if multiple Trainers utilize Mega Evolution in a Raid Battle, the stat boosts will remain the same as for a raid with only one Mega-Evolved Pokémon in it. You’ll receive more Candy and XP for catching Pokémon that share a type with a Mega-Evolved Pokémon during its Mega Evolution period.

At a high enough Trainer level, you can also gain an increased chance to earn Candy XL for Mega-Evolved Pokémon that have reached High Level or Max Level. If you have a Mega Blastoise that has reached High Level, for example, you’ll earn extra Candy and XP when you catch Water-type Pokémon during its Mega Evolution period.

Take advantage of these benefits by using a Lucky Egg or Pinap Berries to quickly accumulate Candy and XP. Understanding Mega Levels in Pokémon GO Your Pokémon’s Mega Levels increase the more frequently you Mega Evolve them. There are three Mega Levels—Base Level, High Level, and Max Level—which apply to individual Pokémon rather than an entire species.

For instance, even if one of your Mega Lopunny reaches Max Level, the rest of your Lopunny will still have to Mega Evolve to increase their Mega Levels individually. After you Mega Evolve a Pokémon for the first time, you can Mega Evolve it again without Mega Energy after a rest period. Does Mega Evolve give XP?

Perks of Mega Evolution – Mega Evolution makes your Pokémon stronger, yes, but there’s also a few other perks you get when you have and use a Mega Evolved Pokémon. One perk includes bonus candy for that type of Pokémon. You’ll also have a higher chance to get XL Candy for Pokémon of the same type, if you’re at least level 40.

If you have a Mega Pidgeot (normal-type) active, you’ll get bonus Buneary Candy when you catch Buneary or Lopunny (also normal-type). (This amount isn’t multiplied by Pinap Berries.) You’ll also get increased catch XP from Pokémon the same type as your Mega Evolved Pokémon. When you raid with Mega Evolved Pokémon, they boost stats of your allies’ Pokémon, as well as give an additional type boost to Pokémon of the same type.

For example, if you use a Mega Lopunny, normal- and fighting-type moves will get boosted.

Should I Mega Evolve Pokemon Go?

1. Your Pokémon will be useful in a raiding event – Instead of rushing to complete your Mega Dex, a strategic time to Mega Evolve your Pokémon would be if there is a raiding event where your it will be useful. A Cresselia Raid Hour, for example, would be a terrific time to Mega Evolve Beedrill.

Beedrill, in its Mega Form, is one of the top Cresselia counters and will boost all other Bug-type Pokémon, which Cresselia, as a Psychic-type, is weak to. These sort of events, where you know you’ll be raiding against a Pokémon weak to your Mega for an extended period of time, is the most recommended time to Mega Evolve.
