Luke and Leia’s Age in A New Hope – Now that we have established that Luke and Leia were born on 19 BBY and that A New Hope happened in the zero year of Star Wars, which is 0 ABY, how old were the Skywalker twins during the events of Episode IV? During Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Luke and Leia were just 19 years old, as only 19 years had passed since their birth on 19 BBY and the Battle of Yavin, which happened on 0 ABY. That means they weren’t even in their 20s when they were instrumental in the fight against the Empire and worked together to bring down the first Death Star and strike fear into Emperor Palpatine’s heart.

How old are Luke and Leia in New Hope?

Han is supposed to be about 32 years old, while Luke and Leia are about 19 years old at the start of A New Hope.

How old is Luke solo in A New Hope?

Based on the release dates of the movies, it is safe to assume that Luke was approximately 19 years old in A New Hope (1977), 22 years old in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and 25 years old in Return of the Jedi (1983).

How old was Luke in Return of the Jedi?

Luke Skywalker appeared in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, “Chapter 16: The Rescue,” but how old is the Jedi at this point of the Star Wars timeline? Luke Skywalker arrived in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, “Chapter 16: The Rescue,” but how old is the Jedi Master at this point in the Star Wars timeline – and just how much was Mark Hamill de-aged by? “The Rescue” contained several major twists and plot developments, as Din Djarin unwittingly claimed the Darksaber from Moff Gideon, Grogu aka Baby Yoda was saved from the Empire’s clutches, and an apparent spinoff, The Book of Boba Fett, was setup in a post-credits scene.

But even with all of that, the biggest talking point was the introduction of Luke to The Mandalorian, as he flew in on his X-wing to save the day and take Grogu for Jedi training. This latest moment of heroism is one of Luke’s most impressive, given the way he uses his green lightsaber and incredible Force powers to take out the army of Dark Troopers.

Star Wars fans have watched a lot of Luke’s life play out on screen, from his birth in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith to his death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but this was the all-mighty Jedi Master many had longed to see depicted. Luke is at the peak of his powers here, and that’s no surprise given the timeline.

As shown in Revenge of the Sith, Luke Skywalker was born in 19BBY, just two days before Empire Day. That means Luke was 19-years-old at the outset of Star Wars ‘ original trilogy, and 23 by the end of it in Return of the Jedi, The events of “The Rescue” take place in approximately 9ABY, meaning Luke Skywalker is 28-years-old in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 8,

This helps to explain why he’s so strong at this moment: while Force powers can develop with age, Luke is physically in his prime, and given he was already impressively-skilled in Return of the Jedi, has spent years better honing his gifts to be as good as possible. Luke’s age in The Mandalorian also fits with the actor who doubles as the Jedi, Max Lloyd Jones, who is 29-years-old. Mark Hamill, provided the voice for the character and had his own face digitally de-aged and superimposed onto Lloyd Jones’ body – Hamill is 69-years-old, so gets to appear here as a more than 40-years-younger version of himself, around the same age gap as Leia Organa (19) and Carrie Fisher (60) when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story depicted a de-aged version of the Princess.

In both cases, while they may be some complaints about the CGI, it’s the emotion and meaning of having those characters and actors involved that adds so much. The Mandalorian is far from the end of Luke Skywalker’s story, of course. In 15ABY, at around 34-years-old, he will begin training Ben Solo; when Ben turns against him and the Jedi Temple is destroyed in 28ABY, Luke is 47.

When he returns in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and then dies in The Last Jedi, Luke is approximately 53-years-old, meaning the version of Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian is just over half way through his life, and has already achieved an incredible amount.

How old was Luke in Star Wars 4?

Luke and Leia are 19 in ANH, Anakin’s 19 in AOTC, Rey’s 19 in TFA, and Han’s 19 in Solo.

Why is Luke older than Leia?

LONDON: Star Wars twins Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia would actually be different ages due to Einstein ‘s theory of relativity, with Luke being 1.75 years younger than Leia, researchers, including one of Indian-origin, have discovered. In the original Star Wars trilogy, one of the big revelations is that main characters Luke and Leia are actually twins separated at birth.

Duleep Vasudevan, Tom Griffiths, Mark Phillips and Katie Herlingshaw from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester have worked out that in the film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Luke and Leia do not actually remain the same age due to relative velocity time dilation – Einstein’s theory of relativity – which results in time ticking more slowly on an object that is moving at a higher speed.

The calculations made were based on the twins’ journeys to Cloud City. Leia travels from the neighbouring system of Anoat, while Luke travels from the much more distant planet Dagobah, Luke’s journey was estimated to be 25 times longer than Leia’s. Additionally, as Leia travels in the Millennium Falcon, a much larger ship with more powerful engines than Luke’s X-Wing Starfighter, the students assumed that it reaches a higher speed.

  1. Leia’s journey yields a time dilation of 62.6 days; however Luke experiences a time dilation of 700.8 days (1.92 years).
  2. The students concluded that Luke is therefore 1.75 years younger than Leia, possibly rendering them the first twins ever to have over a year between their ages.
  3. In another scenario, the students considered gravitational time dilation – the slowing of time due to gravity.

Cloud City, a mining station, floats above the clouds of the planet Bespin, a gas giant very similar to Jupiter. An observer at a distance far from the planet would see time pass more quickly than an observer on the surface. “For Luke to become the same age as Leia he would have to orbit the gas giant for 9.77 million years,” said study lead author Thomas Griffiths.

Is Rey Kylo Ren’s twin sister?

Character – Abrams told Empire in August 2015, “Kylo Ren is not a Sith, He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the dark side of the Force,” Abrams had previously stated that the character “came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren.” Robbie Collin of The Telegraph described Ren as “a hot-headed, radicalised dark side jihadi, whose red lightsaber splutters and crackles as violently as his temper”.

  • Abrams noted, “The lightsaber is something that he built himself, and is as dangerous and as fierce and as ragged as the character.” The Telegraph also explains that Ren’s wild and erratic temper and “angsty” instability make him dangerous.
  • Melissa Leon of The Daily Beast describes Ren’s use of the Force as “formidable”, citing his ability to stop a blaster shot mid-air, immobilize victims and probe their minds against their will.

Kasdan told Entertainment Weekly in August 2015, “I’ve written four Star Wars movies now, and there’s never been a character quite like the one that Adam plays. I think you’re going to see something that’s brand new to the saga,” noting that the character is “full of emotion”.

Abrams explained, “I think that what makes Ren so unique is that he isn’t as fully formed as when we meet a character such as Darth Vader, He is not your prototypical mustache-twirling bad guy. He is a little bit more complex than that.” Driver said in December 2015 that, despite the visual similarities to Darth Vader, Ren is “unlike any villain the franchise has seen”.

He explained: I feel there’s a recklessness about him that’s maybe not normally associated with the Dark Side. You normally think of order, and structure, and full commitment and no hesitation, he’s just a little bit more unpolished. It’s in his costume, in his lightsaber—how you kind of get the sense that it could just not work at any moment; that it could just blow up.

That’s kind of like a big metaphor for him. Driver claimed that he was privy to several details of Kylo Ren’s backstory during the making of the films. According to Lev Grossman, who interviewed the actor in the lead-up to The Rise of Skywalker, Driver reported that “both Han Solo and Leia were way too self-absorbed and into this idea of themselves as heroes to really be attentive parents in the way a young and tender Kylo Ren really needed.” The backstory of how Ben Solo became Kylo Ren was elaborated upon in a prequel graphic novel titled The Rise of Kylo Ren (written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Will Sliney ), which was published and released by Marvel Comics from December 18, 2019 to March 11, 2020.

Certain aspects of Kylo Ren’s overall arc across the three films of the Sequel Trilogy were also known to Driver from the start of production on the first film. He claimed that he “had one piece of information of where it was all going.and things were building towards that.” He later clarified: J.J.

  • Abrams told me when I met him for the first time that I should imagine a journey of a character completely opposite to Darth Vader.someone who starts as a child and becomes a man over the course of three movies.
  • He becomes closer to his convictions, becomes more assured about his choices, but has metaphorically and physically killed his father to become his own person.

When asked by IGN in December 2017 if he believed Kylo Ren was capable of redemption, The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson replied, “Yeah. Are you kidding? Vader was worse than Kylo ever was, I think, and Vader got redeemed.” Citing the complexity of the character, Johnson articulated, “I don’t see the point of trying to get behind his mask and learn more about him if all we’re going to learn is ‘Yeah, he’s just an evil bad guy that needs to be killed.'” The Rise of Skywalker co-writer Chris Terrio also supported this position through comparing Kylo with Darth Vader.

According to Terrio, “Vader was complicit in genocide and cruelty and depravity. Yet there is this inherent optimism in Star Wars that the light in you is never truly gone. That you can still redeem yourself right up until the last minute – which, in Vader’s case, was literally true. Leia never really gave up hope that Kylo could be redeemed, and she knew that Rey was probably the way that it would happen.” Abrams further elaborated on this point: Maybe it’s the optimist in me, but I would like to think that anyone, even someone who does the most horrendous things, is redeemable.

And certainly because his mother, Leia, is a believer that there is still light in him, it was hard to imagine that she would be wrong about him. The Rise of Skywalker revealed that Kylo Ren and Rey were two halves of a “dyad” in the Force, which Terrio alternatively described as “sort of soulmate in the Force” and “twins of fate, twins of destiny.” Their relationship was also described as a romance by both J.J.

Abrams and Rian Johnson, with Abrams explaining that, during the production of The Force Awakens, he perceived them having as much as a “brother-sister thing” as a “romantic thing” because of their spiritual connection in the Force, while Johnson explains the intimacy developed between the two characters in The Last Jedi because of their interactions during the Force connections.

Johnson also explains about Kylo Ren’s appeal for Rey to join him during The Last Jedi comparing it with the love confession in the film Notting Hill : I’ll say this – the moment when Kylo makes his appeal for her to join him, and Adam captured it so well in his little please, it was important to me that it wasn’t a chess game, it wasn’t just a manipulation.

Who is the greatest Jedi?

Happy Star Wars Day! Once again, May the Fourth has arrived to give us all a day to celebrate that wonderful galaxy far, far away together. In honor of this special day and the recent launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, we asked you to help us decide which Jedi was the most powerful of them all.

  • Now, After almost two million 1v1 battles with match-ups like pre-Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker vs.
  • Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs.
  • Qui-Gon Jinn, a winner has been chosen.
  • So, which competitor claimed the top spot for the most powerful Jedi of all time? Drumroll please.
  • Move aside, Anakin Skywalker.

Master Yoda has risen above all others to claim the top spot as the most powerful Jedi of all time and the true chosen one according to IGN’s audience. He won pretty handily as well, as he was victorious in 89,756 of his 95,243 battles and had a win percentage of 94.2%.

Yoda is one of the most iconic characters in all of Star Wars and was not only a leading member of the Jedi Council and helped train countless Jedi to reach their full potential, but he was also a key part in assisting Luke Skywalker in fulfilling his destiny to stop the Empire and redeem his father, Darth Vader.

Speaking of Darth Vader and, more specifically, who he was before he fell to the Dark Side, Anakin Skywalker placed third and was bested only by Yoda and his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was a close battle too as they both had a win percentage of 88.8%.

  • It just goes to show that, even though you are the so-called chosen one to bring balance to the force, you can’t take it easy and expect victory to just come your way.
  • In this battle, much like in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan still had the high ground.
  • Luke Skywalker came in fourth place with a win percentage of 88.6%, which makes sense as these top four combatants are some of the most iconic characters in all of Star Wars and helped save a galaxy, even though there were some iffy decisions made along the way by them.

Rounding out the top five was Mace Windu, the Jedi who was so close to stopping Emperor Palpatine before Anakin arrived and ruined everything. The next five Jedi are also some great characters, including Ahsoka Tano, Qui-Gon Jinn, Pre-Sith Count Dooku, Plo Koon, and Cal Kestis.

Cal’s placement should be a good sign that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being well received and that this newer Jedi to the overall canon is a bit of a hit. Of all the 63 Jedi we included in this face-off, Tu-Anh was unfortunately chosen as the least powerful with a win percentage of only 11.5 %. Her contributions to the Jedi Order should not be forgotten, however, as she was a Jedi Master who perished while trying to get to the bottom of a Separatist conspiracy on Utapau.

The next few Jedi near the bottom were all younglings who fell during the tragedy that was Order 66, including Whie Malreaux, Zett Jukassa, and Bene. Following them were Knox, Bolla Ropal, Nari, Ord Enisence, Halsey, and Bultar Swan. Are you wondering where you favorite character landed, like maybe Grogu? (He placed at number 24!) For all the rankings, you can check out the full list of where all 63 Jedi that competed in this Face-Off ended up.

Why did Leia kiss Luke again?

In The Empire Strikes Back, Luke and Leia share an awkward kiss, but a deleted alternate version of this moment reveals it could have been worse. One deleted scene from The Empire Strikes Back involving Luke and Leia is much worse than their kiss in the movie. In the years since the original trilogy’s release in theaters, Lucasfilm has revealed a handful of deleted scenes for Star Wars, giving audiences a glimpse at short alternate versions of the stories they know and love.

  1. These sometimes extended scenes have been beneficial for fans as a way to gain insight into the mind of George Lucas and other filmmakers who helped bring a galaxy far, far away to life.
  2. Following his nearly fatal encounter with a wampa on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker is rescued by Han Solo.

In a medical center shortly after, Princess Leia checks on a recovering Luke, and in an effort to make Han jealous, she kisses the bedridden hero and walks away. At the time, neither Luke nor Leia knew they were siblings, but this scene still feels a little odd given the context of their relationship as revealed in Return of the Jedi,

Is Finn In Love With Rey?

Finn Was Not Going To Tell Rey What You Think In ‘Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker’ Rise of Skywalker Disney There are many odd moments in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker,, but did seem like it was a bit cut and pasted together from several disjointed storylines.

  1. One storyline that kind of got lost in the shuffle had to do with Finn and Rey, though to discuss it any further, we’re going to have to get into spoiler territory,
  2. There’s one moment in the film where the entire group is getting sucked into quicksand and it seems like they could all imminently die.
You might be interested:  How Does Section 8 Find Out If Someone Is Living With You?

Finn uses this moment to express that there’s something he “never told Rey,” though the group gets sucked down before he can. Rey brings it up once they survive, but Finn says he doesn’t want to say it in front of Poe. Later, when Finn, Poe and Chewie are seconds away from being executed, Poe badgers Finn about it again who doesn’t want to talk about it, even if they’re literally about to die.

And after that? It never comes up again. If you’re like me, you interpreted this one way. That Finn was going to confess his love for Rey based on a longstanding crush he’s had on her pretty much since the first moment they met in The Force Awakens, Some people tell me that they think their relationship has always been platonic, but I think the series makes it pretty clear that Finn has a crush on Rey, even if she doesn’t feel like that about him and is oblivious to it.

I am fully in support of Finn and Poe getting together too, but obviously that didn’t happen and that’s an entirely separate conversation for another day. I was content to assume this is just what happened, that Finn was going to awkwardly profess his love for Rey but then didn’t actually do it and it was just dropped in favor of Rey getting her (brief) love story with Kylo in.

First, we have John Boyega saying outright on Twitter that Finn was not going to say that he loved Rey in that scene:Then, we have reports that at a fan Q and A session, director JJ Abrams supposedly said that what Finn was going to tell Rey was that he was Force sensitive, something we see demonstrated in the film pretty clearly in a number of different moments. This isvery stupid.

Viewed as a whole, it seems very obvious that Finn had a crush on Rey from the start and this was at least at one point supposed to be a fun little moment where he almost admits that out loud. It’s pretty weird that this is never resolved, and also that Finn never really finished any of his outstanding romantic arcs, not with Rose, who was completely shelved after The Last Jedi in a pretty brutal fashion, and not with newcomer Jannah, whom seems to be a kindred spirit, even if nothing romantic happens between them in the film.

And again, not with Poe, the dream for many fans who were hoping for a very prominent example of LGBT representation among the main cast. So really that’s four potential love interests for Finn that are never developed by the end of the film, and what should serve as effectively the end of his story, barring some future spin-off books.

Force Awakens Disney Saying that Finn’s big secret from Rey that he couldn’t admit in front of anyone else was that he was Force sensitive is justnonsense. Why would he feel the need to hide that from Poe, one of his best friends? Why would that be something to be ashamed about? Why does he not seem to care about hiding it when he’s talking about the power of the Force in other scenes are speaking openly about the “feelings” the Force is giving him? This, like many things in The Rise of Skywalker, feels like a sloppy retcon.

Clearly Finn was supposed to have some sort of romantic interest in Rey when the saga started in Force Awakens, Then he and Rose were supposed to have a relationship in Last Jedi. Then in the end, he has literally four potential romantic storylines go nowhere, and the one that makes the most sense is being erased from existence by both the actor and director themselves.

Pretty absurd if you ask me. Anyway, I’m sticking with my own head canon on this one because Boyega and JJ just aren’t making sense with this explanation here. Interpret it how you will. Follow me, and, Read my new sci-fi thriller novel, available now in print and online.

Is Rey the Sith daughter?

” Everything you do, everywhere you go, you have the hope of a galaxy with you. ” ―Leia Organa, to Rey Rey Skywalker, once known only as Rey, or as Rey Palpatine, was a human female Jedi Master who fought on the side of the Resistance in the war against the First Order,

A former scavenger from the planet Jakku, her life was changed by the tumultuous events of the last days of the New Republic Era, Her decision to help the droid BB-8 set Rey on a course to discovering the Force that awakened within her, leading her to seek out Jedi Master Luke Skywalker for training,

Yet despite her commitment to the Jedi Order and the light side of the Force, Rey felt the pull to the dark side due to her anger and the adversarial relationship she had with Ben Solo, a fallen Jedi whom she knew as the dark warrior Kylo Ren. The unique Force-bond between them was a result of their nature as a dyad in the Force,

  1. Rey was born on Hyperkarn in 15 ABY during the rise of the New Republic,
  2. Her father, Dathan, was a bioengineered Strand-Cast cloned from the genetic template of Darth Sidious, the Sith Lord who ruled the Galactic Empire as Emperor Palpatine.
  3. The clone and his wife, Miramir, chose to live as simple junk traders in order to hide their daughter, who inherited Sidious’ connection to the Force, from his followers,

After the deaths of her parents, Rey was forced to survive on her own in the Jakku desert, and became a skilled mechanic, pilot, and combatant in the process. Her isolated life was disrupted shortly before war broke out across the galaxy in 34 ABY,

  • Determined to help the Resistance, Rey gained several new allies including Finn, a renegade stormtrooper, as well as the veterans Han Solo and Chewbacca,
  • In the course of their journey, she discovered her latent Force powers and sought guidance under Skywalker, who taught her the art of the Force despite his decision to end the Jedi legacy.

After Skywalker sacrificed himself to save the Resistance, Rey assumed his mantle as the last Jedi and became the apprentice of General Leia Organa, With the return of Darth Sidious in 35 ABY, Rey set out to find the dark world of Exegol and prevent the Sith from being reborn.

  1. It was through Kylo Ren that Rey discovered her origins as the Dark Lord’s granddaughter, and upon confronting Sidious in person, she was nearly swayed to the dark side of the Force, thus falling into his trap of transferring his spirit into her, which will allow him to possess her body.
  2. However, Rey was saved by Ben Solo after he renounced his dark alter ego.

Aided by the spirits of all the Jedi, Rey died vanquishing her grandfather, causing Solo to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to bring Rey back to life. The two embraced and shared a kiss as Solo peacefully vanished in Rey’s arms. Although Solo was the last of the Skywalker bloodline, Rey assumed the name “Skywalker” to honor their memory, repudiating her own heritage as a Palpatine,

Who is Palpatine’s son?

Books and comics – Palpatine made his first major appearance in Star Wars -related comic books in 1991 and 1992, with the Dark Empire series written by Tom Veitch and illustrated by Cam Kennedy, In the series (set six years after Return of the Jedi ), Palpatine is resurrected as the Emperor Reborn, or “Palpatine the Undying”.

  • His spirit returns from the netherworld of the Force with the aid of Sith ghosts on Korriban and possesses the body of Jeng Droga, one of Palpatine’s elite spies and assassins known as the Emperor’s Hands.
  • Droga flees to a secret Imperial base on the planet Byss, where the Emperor’s advisor Sate Pestage exorcises Palpatine’s spirit and channels it into one of many clones created by Palpatine before his death.

Palpatine attempts to resume control of the galaxy, but Luke Skywalker, now a senior Jedi Knight, sabotages his plans. Luke destroys most of Palpatine’s cloning tanks but is only able to defeat the Emperor with help from Leia Organa Solo, who has received rudimentary Jedi training from Luke.

  1. The two repel a Force storm Palpatine had created and turn it back onto him, once again destroying his physical form.
  2. Palpatine’s ultimate fate is further chronicled in the Dark Empire II and Empire’s End series of comics.
  3. The Dark Empire II series, published from 1994 to 1995, details how the Emperor is once again reborn on Byss into a clone body.

Palpatine tries to rebuild the Empire as the Rebel Alliance grows weak. In Empire’s End (1995), a traitorous Imperial guard bribes Palpatine’s cloning supervisor to tamper with the Emperor’s stored DNA samples. This causes the clones to deteriorate at a rapid rate.

Palpatine tries to possess the body of Anakin Solo, the infant son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, before the clone body dies, but is thwarted once again by Luke Skywalker. Palpatine is killed by a blaster shot fired by Han, but his spirit is captured by the mortally wounded Jedi Empatojayos Brand, When Brand dies, he takes Palpatine’s spirit with him into the netherworld of the Force, destroying the Sith Lord once and for all.

Novels and comics published before 1999 focus on Palpatine’s role as Galactic Emperor. Shadows of the Empire (1996) by Steve Perry and The Mandalorian Armor (1998) by K.W. Jeter —both set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi —show how Palpatine uses crime lords such as Prince Xizor and bounty hunters like Boba Fett to fight his enemies.

  • In the Jedi Prince series of young-reader novels (1992–1993) by Paul and Hollace Davids, set about a year after Return of the Jedi, a three-eyed mutant named Triclops is revealed to be Palpatine’s illegitimate son; he had a son named Ken, the titular “Jedi Prince”.
  • Barbara Hambly ‘s novel Children of the Jedi (1995), set eight years after Return of the Jedi, features a woman named Roganda Ismaren who claims that Palpatine fathered her son Irek,

After the release of The Phantom Menace, writers were allowed to begin exploring Palpatine’s backstory as a politician and Sith lord. The comic “Marked” by Rob Williams, printed in Star Wars Tales 24 (2005), and Michael Reaves ‘ novel Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter (2001) explain Darth Sidious’ relationship with his apprentice Darth Maul.

Cloak of Deception (2001) by James Luceno follows Reaves’ novel and details how Darth Sidious encourages the Trade Federation to build an army of battle droids in preparation for the invasion of Naboo. Cloak of Deception also focuses on Palpatine’s early political career, revealing how he becomes a confidant of Chancellor Finis Valorum and acquainted with Padmé Amidala, newly elected queen of Naboo.

Palpatine’s role during the Clone Wars as Chancellor of the Republic and Darth Sidious is portrayed in novels such as Matthew Stover ‘s Shatterpoint (2003), Steven Barnes ‘ The Cestus Deception (2004), Sean Stewart ‘s Yoda: Dark Rendezvous (2004), and Luceno’s Labyrinth of Evil (2005) and Darth Plagueis (2012).

Following the theatrical release of Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars literature focused on Palpatine’s role after the creation of the Empire. John Ostrander ‘s comic Star Wars Republic 78: Loyalties (2005) chronicles how, shortly after seizing power, Emperor Palpatine sends Darth Vader to assassinate Sagoro Autem, an Imperial captain who plans to defect from the Empire.

In Luceno’s novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader (2005) (set shortly after Revenge of the Sith ), the Emperor sends Darth Vader to the planet Murkhana to discover why clone troopers there refused to carry out Order 66 against their Jedi generals.

Palpatine hopes these early missions will teach Vader what it means to be a Sith and crush any remnants of Anakin Skywalker. James Luceno ‘s 2012 novel Darth Plagueis depicts Palpatine’s early life, prior to the films. The scion of an aristocratic family on Naboo, Palpatine first turns toward the dark side upon meeting the titular Sith lord.

What is the age gap between Han and Leia?

15. There was originally a much more serious love triangle between Han/Leia/Luke – It’s an awkward moment that Star Wars fans still struggle with all these years later. In order to make Han Solo jealous, Leia plants a kiss on Luke Skywalker’s lips, which he then clearly preens over to rub it in Han’s face even more. As we all know, it turns out later that Luke and Leia are twins- and that Leia herself somehow claims to have “always known” they were. In the novel Bloodline by Claudia Gray, Leia’s lineage as the daughter of Darth Vader is used as a political assault on her character as she rose to prominence within the Galactic Senate. The reveal that no one outside of the immediate circle of those involved in the past battles knew of her heritage posed quite the surprise. A consistent component of classic Hollywood romance stories involved a considerable age difference between the leading lady and the leading man- almost universally, with the man being much older than the woman whom he was courting. This can be seen across countless classic movies and TV shows alike, with the leading woman constantly being a few years younger than the man. The romantic climax of Empire Strikes Back is unquestionably the moment when, just before he is lowered into carbonite, Han and Leia exchange a confession of their true feelings: “I love you.” “I know.” Now far and wide considered one of the most iconic scenes of the entire franchise, it turns out that this scene originally played much differently.

  • However, even though Ford’s spur of the moment decision led the scene to become as resonant as it remains, Fisher’s response to the line change wasn’t exactly thrilled.
  • A strong and gifted writer herself, Fisher was apparently quite displeased with the fact that Ford had been allowed to change the scene’s content without consulting her.
  • The rift that resulted because of this decision led to the co-stars not even being on speaking terms when it came time to film that important scene.

“Harrison is a very fine actor. I regarded that scene as entirely his, which is why I gave him so much opportunity to tell me how he thought we should treat it. That led to a little tension with Carrie.” It was a revelation that shook Hollywood and provided feelings of vindication for eagle-eyed Star Wars fans everywhere. In her 2016 memoir The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher finally confirmed that she and Harrison Ford had once engaged in an affair during the production of the Star Wars movies.

  • The circumstances of their relationship, however, were clearly less than ideal.
  • As Fisher explained it, their entanglement took place during three months of production on A New Hope, when she was 19 and Ford was 33- and married.
  • She also claimed that it was clearly infatuation, and once the production had wrapped, nothing more came of the affair.

However, not even an end of their affair could put a damper on the chemistry that they would share on screen for years to come. Actors partying hard on days off or after long shoots is more or less standard procedure on certain productions. With Star Wars having been filmed in the heyday of the 1970s and 1980s, as well as on location in England, it was essentially all but guaranteed that partying would reach impressively intense levels. With the original Expanded Universe now having been deemed Legends, and an entire bevy of new content being written to fill in the gaps between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy, it was only a matter of time before some truly shocking revelations came to light.

Look no further than the reveal that Han Solo may, at one time, have been married- albeit illegitimately- to someone who was not named Leia Organa. Even further, the reveal included the fact that he very well may have been married at the time he first met- and fell for- Leia. Sana Starros was introduced as someone from Han’s shadier past who claimed that they were married as part of a con job.

While this doesn’t exactly make for the strongest of cases, it was no doubt a shock to the system for all comics readers. Many fans have reasonably assumed that the reason for Han and Leia’s separation, as revealed in The Force Awakens, was their son’s tragic fall to the dark side of the Force. However, while that certainly played a large part in their separation, it turns out that there was growing tension and distance long before that.

In fact, the tension that grew and led to their distancing from one another is, unfortunately, something that could likely never have been avoided. Due to Leia’s workaholic commitment, and Han’s inability to handle stress and the need to run away when it presents itself, the two found themselves confronted with fundamentally incompatible lifestyles.

No matter how much they loved one another, or how invested in their family they may have been, their work lives, in addition to their stubborn personalities, would never have allowed for a perfect union. As we’ve already discussed, Han and Leia’s first exchange of their true feelings stands to this day as one of the most iconic and important scenes in the entire Star Wars franchise. However, it’s entirely possible that this scene may have never existed at all.

  1. The only reason why this scene was included in the script, as it turns out, was because Harrison Ford was unwilling to commit to starring in a third movie at that time.
  2. While Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher had both already signed on to return for Return of the Jedi, Ford had done no such thing.
  3. Therefore the minds behind Star Wars were forced to give themselves a potential out just in case.

It isn’t exactly news that Han Solo was a prolific gambler. After all, he won the Millennium Falcon in a bet against Lando Calrissian, and the sequel trilogy has decided to use his golden dice as the emblem for his character from The Last Jedi onward.

However, what may come as a surprise is the fact that, along with Lando, Han apparently taught Leia to play Sabacc, a notoriously difficult game somewhat similar to our Blackjack. After she learned- and as ever, she was quite the quick learner- Leia soon proved herself to be an expert in the game, beating her opponents routinely regardless of whether the odds were in her favor.

Also in Gray’s novel Bloodline, it’s revealed that Han found himself initially unsettled by the reality that he was now a father. Worried at every turn about potentially screwing up their child, he frankly admitted to Leia that he had never imagined having children.

Leia, however, was quick to counter with her own confession regarding their life together. She was quite certain he would be a great father, she assured him, before going one step further and saying he would be a wonderful grandfather, too. At that, however, Han joked that he would never get that old- and we don’t even have to explain why that line hurts so much.

It’s hard to imagine either Han or Leia settling into a life of domestic bliss and becoming the perfect married couple, sitting together by the fire and reading the newspaper daily. Part of what makes them so exciting as a couple to begin with is their mutual tendencies to buck convention and go wherever the wind may take them.

  1. Therefore it shouldn’t come as a surprise that their marriage was entirely unconventional.
  2. Rather than staying put at home while Leia served in the Galactic Senate, Han in turn took up work as a racing pilot and instructor for up and coming generations of pilots who wanted to learn how to fly from the greatest hotshot pilot there ever was.

Han’s reluctance to accept the workings of the Force was one of the most fundamental parts of his character in the original trilogy. An outsider to the connection shared by Luke, Obi-Wan, and even Leia herself, he served as a voice of “reason” when things seemed like they were headed into the entirely elemental and spiritual territory of the Force.

  • However, it was Han’s status as an outsider and a non-believer that perhaps led to one of the most avoidable tragedies in the entirety of Star Wars.
  • Leia had sensed from the womb that there was something dark inside of Ben- thanks in large part to her awareness of Snoke’s interest in him- but she never thought to tell Han of anything that was happening, because- as he was non-Force-sensitive- he couldn’t possibly have understood.
  • So rather than talk it out, Ben was sent off to Luke’s for training, and the rest is history.
  1. As Galactic heroes turned cultural icons and important leaders, whether in the world of the Senate or in the instruction of the next generation of pilots, Han and Leia never really got a break to take time for themselves.
  2. Over the course of Claudia Gray’s Bloodline, the long-time married couple frequently fantasize about taking some time away together and just traveling from system to system in the Millennium Falcon, letting all their obligations fall away.
  3. Of course, given the tense nature of Leia’s work life, and Han’s likelihood to be called away at a moment’s notice for some sort of pilot commitment, scheduling this time together proved more difficult than it should have.
  4. However, they vowed to one another that “someday” would happen for them- that they would find the time to reconnect, and be together, and be happy.
  5. Yet no matter how inspired by fairytales Star Wars may be, it seems as though happily ever after was never truly meant for these two star-crossed lovers.

Originally Answered: In ‘Obi-wan Kenobi’, why is Leïa played by a 6-8 years old while she is supposed to be 10? Vivien Lyra Blair is 9, so she would have been 8–9 when Obi-Wan Kenobi was filmed, not 6–8. Carrie Fisher was a famously small woman. It makes sense for her to be played by a small child.
