No further details were revealed, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for first-look images, a trailer, and a specific fall premiere date. However, even with the limited information, there’s still quite a bit we know about the new season of Virgin River, which is based on the best-selling Robyn Carr novels of the same name.

Who The Father Of Charmaine’s Baby Could Be (It’s Not Jack) – While Virgin River primarily focuses on Mel and Jack’s relationship, Charmaine’s Virgin River pregnancy has been another focal point and issue for the couple. Her pregnancy is revealed at the end of Virgin River season 1, and she identifies Jack as the father of her twins.

This causes Mel to break off her budding relationship with Jack. But, of course, the two end up rekindling their romance, much to Charmaine’s dismay. While this theory may initially seem like grasping at straws, Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Mel in Virgin River, did reveal ( via ) that the birth father of Charmaine’s twins is someone who already exists in the Virgin River universe. Given the small number of eligible men in the town and Charmaine’s known Virgin River timeline, that leaves few options for the true paternity of Charmaine’s twins.

Since Mike is actively investigating the, he is in the Virgin River area quite a bit. He could have easily crossed paths with Charmaine. Mike’s past with Jack would also explain the sadness expressed when Jack initially reveals the news. After serving in the military together, the two remain close.

Mike wouldn’t want to hurt Jack, including infringing on his possible relationship with the Charmaine Virgin River character. He thought the pair was broken up, which is why he questioned them still being together. Now that the truth of the twin’s paternity has been revealed, it’s clear Charmaine initially lied to try and win Jack back from Mel.

And since Jack lives in Virgin River, he also would have been a more secure father than Mike, who lives in Los Angeles. With Todd now out of the picture, Virgin River season 5 will surely address who Charmaine’s twins’ birth father is. Mel worries that without Cameron, Doc will be overwhelmed when she goes on maternity leave, so she resigns in hopes that Cameron will stay.

That’s just another thing Doc has to stress over. Between his health struggles, overseeing Hope’s recovery, and connecting with his long-lost grandson Denny (Kai Bradbury) who’s in town visiting, Doc has a lot going on in Season 4. In the finale, Doc tells a stubborn Hope that they need to hire an aid to assist her on a daily basis.

She agrees, and says she wants Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) to do it. But Lizzie’s hesitant because things are weird between her and Denny. At times it seems like Denny wants to be more than friends with Lizzie, but he always pulls away and is infamous for keeping secrets.

1. When Denny hears Lizzie might leave Hope hanging because of him, he tells her the truth.
2. The reason I can’t be with you is because I don’t have a future.
3. I have Huntington’s Disease, which is terminal,” he says.
4. While it would obviously be painful for Lizzie strengthen her bond with Denny knowing that his time is limited, she’ll have a lot more free time in Season 5 now that Ricky’s (Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey) out of the picture.

Brady recently learned that Brie had been raped by an attorney she was dating in Sacramento, so he’s doing everything he can to be there for her.

Meanwhile, thanks to a tip from Brie, Mike was able to solve the mystery of Jack’s shooting and the DEA dropped all charges against Brady. The gun used to shoot Jack, which was found in Brady’s truck, actually belonged to Vince (Steve Bacic), the twin brother of Paige’s abusive ex-husband Wes. In Season 4, Vince comes to town and kidnaps her son Christopher (Chase Petriw) to lure her out of hiding. She returns to Virgin River and agrees to trade herself in exchange for her son’s freedom.

So Vince takes Paige to a cabin in the woods, and after Vince admits he shot Jack, Preacher smacks him over the head with a wooden log and he drops to the floor. Like we said, the episode was jam packed! And its final minutes sure didn’t let up. As Brie’s getting into her car, she’s cornered by the attorney who raped her.

He asks her to sign an NDA, but she tells him she’s going to file a police report and press charges. Mel and Jack, who went to a celebratory engagement dinner with their friends Nick and Jo Ellen, are introduced to Nick’s sister, Melissa Montgomery aka gang leader Calvin’s terrifying boss who may or may not have had him killed.

• Someone’s in the parking lot snapping photos of Melissa mingling with Jack and Mel, so those could become an issue down the line.
• Dinner is cut short when Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), the woman who’s pregnant with Jack’s twins, calls him in a panic.
• Jack and Mel rush to her house and find her lying on the floor in pain.

We have to talk about that Charmaine twist at the end. We only see Jack’s shock when she reveals he’s not the twins’ father. How’s Mel feeling? It’s a betrayal, right? Given they were working to make the situation work. Alexandra Breckenridge: It’s true.

I think it’s most devastating to Jack honestly. Just being betrayed for both of them is devastating. That’s a huge betrayal. That’s a big, big lie and they’ve really stretched themselves thin to accommodate and create this environment in which they can all co-parent and have this family and they find out it’s a lie.

I personally, as an actress was like, “Please let those babies not be Jack’s.” “Let’s not do that.” So I was personally very happy. I was like, “Great!” Courtesy Of Netflix Also in the finale, Mel tells Doc that she’s resigning, but he wasn’t on board with that. So what can you say about her mindset when it comes to her career and what’s next? I don’t think she wants to just completely quit her job. Her job’s extremely important to her.

I just think she’s trying to be realistic about potential complications with her pregnancy and what that could mean for Doc’s clinic and how important she knows that that clinic is to the town. It’s extremely necessary for the town to have a medical facility because the closest one besides Doc’s is like two hours away.

So for her, it’s not just about what she wants, it’s what she knows is best for the town. But I don’t think she’s going to step away forever. In very happy news, talk about filming the proposal because we were waiting for that! I know! I can’t say that I was surprised, but I was — it was so sweet, was it not? It was very sweet.

• Jack gave her this lovely speech and it was just so romantic.
• We were actually filming on a lake — it wasn’t a green screen or anything — and I was like, “This is the place where you want to get engaged.
• Yes, absolutely.
• This is so lovely and so sweet.” I’m happy that they did that at the end of the season.

That was a pleasant surprise. Courtesy Of Netflix How is Mel feeling about her and Jack’s future at the end of the season? Optimistic? Because they’re getting married, found out that he’s the father, he’s getting help with his drinking. So things are definitely looking up for them.

• Yes. I’m just trying to track back in my mind where exactly we are, because we literally just got off of the Zoom table read for Season 5, Episodes 1 and 2.
• So I’m like, “Wait, where are we now? Oh, yeah.” From where Mel came at the beginning of Season 1 to now, I don’t think that she ever imagined that she could find love again, let alone be pregnant again.

Obviously that’s been kind of a ghost for her throughout the seasons, that she’s always wanted to have children and never really thought that she could. So at this point, she’s in a really good place besides that sort of needle scratch at the end of the season where Charmaine says she’s been lying to them the entire time.

1. She’s just in this blissful place.
2. You said you just got off the table read, so what can you tease about the kind of wedding that Mel and Jack are going to have? Because they briefly touch on in the finale.
3. You know what, I haven’t gotten to that part.
4. We don’t have that yet.
5. I don’t know if they get married this season or not.

I’m not sure. We go so slowly. If you wanted to check in on tracking Charmaine’s pregnancy, we go very slowly. I think it’s only like three or four months since Mel has been in Virgin River? So I don’t know that they’ll get married or not in Season 5. Genuinely, I don’t know yet.

Related Will we be getting more Mel and Brie scenes? I love that friendship so much. I know, I do, too. I’ve been asking for that since the second she came to town. Zibby and I have formed a very fast friendship just as people, so we get along swimmingly and I’m really hoping that they can write to that going forward.

Also, Mel doesn’t have any other friends in Virgin River. It’s kind of unfortunate. Through Season 4, she’s not able to really talk to many people other than Jack about what’s really going on for her. I found that kind of isolating and troublesome for her character.

1. And Hope’s recovering. Yeah.
2. She can’t really connect with Hope.
3. She doesn’t want to burden Doc, even though she accidentally does at some point because she’s emotional about the stillbirth that she delivers.
4. She doesn’t have another touchstone in Virgin River besides Jack at the moment, so I’m hoping that we can develop some more friendships for her going forward in Season 5.
