Brenner confirms in season 4 that Eleven’s powers were lost because of the Mind Flayer’s attack at Hopper’s cabin and later during the Battle of Starcourt. Eleven suffered something akin to a stroke, according to Dr. Brenner, and she merely forgot how to access her powers.

At his empire’s height, Vecna was betrayed and destroyed by his most trusted lieutenant, a vampire called Kas the Bloody-Handed, using a magical sword that Vecna himself had crafted for him, now known as the Sword of Kas,

Dr. Brenner could not control Henry Creel, but he could raise these new children to be controlled.

The problem, though, is that Dr. Brenner had learned too much from his precious Number One, He modeled all his training on techniques that had amplified Henry Creel’s powers, deliberately distancing his children from one another and carefully monitoring their socialization.

It’s no coincidence so many of Eleven’s ” siblings ” were aggressive and dominant in character; they had been raised that way, raised to share the character traits of Henry Creel that Brenner believed key to tapping into their powers.
Eleven seems to have been Brenner’s most concerning test subject, because he sensed her repressed anger and rage.

Henry Creel sensed this as well; allowed to continue working at Hawkins Lab as an orderly, he manipulated Eleven to encourage her to give in to her rage. Years later, in the Stranger Things season 2 episode “The Lost Sister,” Eleven’s only surviving sibling attempted to teach her the same lesson.

But in doing so, more revelations were made present such as the identity of Brenner’s first subject, One.
At first, One acted as an orderly who would help El handle the bigger kids who often criticized and bullied her.
One told El that often what would help, at least for him, was a memory that made him both sad and angry.

Initially, Eleven tapped into her earliest memory of her mother trying to take her back from the Hawkins lab before she was forcibly escorted away from El. Throughout the series, it was believed that El’s source of strength came from her strong emotions. This was further detailed as she practiced her powers with Kali in Stranger Things Season 2. However, it may have been a further evolution from the real source of her strength: trauma.

For Eleven, she’s no stranger to trauma as she lived most of her early youth as a guinea pig in a research lab. But her traumas grew as she gained strength. For example, once she began to come into her powers, she quickly became one of the strongest. Unfortunately, those that she had surpassed didn’t appreciate her growth and bullied her by telekinetically beating her up,

When One helped Eleven escape, she also freed him of an inhibitor chip that kept him from using his own powers. After he was finally freed, he took his revenge on the lab and killed nearly everyone, including the children. When Eleven realized how bad he was, she pulled the trauma from being bullied and abused, and the anger of being betrayed and losing the closest thing she had to friends. After her escape, Eleven was lucky to have less trauma permeate her life. However, being a kid growing up and also facing the duties she had due to her powers, she still struggled with certain triggers. Eventually, the trauma that ignited her powers was instead relegated to moments of intense emotions.

Anger was a big catalyst as she often used it to protect her friends. This was best shown in Season 1 when she protected Mike and Dustin from the bullies at the quarry. While her early years as a telekinetic were based solely on trauma, Eleven has learned to cruise above her pain and focus on strong emotions.

That said, there’s no doubt that the core of her strength was born from the pain she experienced both from her peers and the betrayal of One. But in her trauma, and the apparent loss of her mother when she was young, Eleven found her strength and proved to be perhaps the strongest telekinetic in the entire series.

Why is Vecna’s hand so big?

10. Vecna’s Hand – Season 4’s main villain Vecna contains a multitude of easter eggs. To start, he has a giant, claw-like left hand. This is a reference to the D&D character Vecna, for whom this Vecna is named; the D&D Vecna has a monstrous hand infused with dark magic.

Why does Eleven bleed from the left nostril?

Do I tilt my head forwards or backwards during a nosebleed? In Netflix’s Stranger Things, develops a nosebleed whenever she harnesses her telekinetic powers. From crumpling a coke can to committing murder — the more exertion her psychokinesis requires, the more likely we will see her nose bleed.

For us regular folk, nosebleeds are more likely the cause of trauma, dryness, or allergies. Alternatively, anatomical reasons like a deviated septum or vascular malformations may leave you with a bloody nose more often than others. Where is that blood coming from? There are five arteries in the head that terminate in the nasal septum — the wall that separates the left and right sides of the nose.

This collection of arteries joins together at what’s called the, which is responsible for warming up the air that enters the nose by transferring heat from the blood. This forms a large vascular network that is close to the surface of the skin, making it susceptible to bleeding if you get smacked in the face, blow your nose one too many times, or simply if your skin cracks from dry air.

If one of those blood vessels ruptures, you end up with a nosebleed (also called epistaxis). While over 90% of the time nosebleeds occur in the Kiesselbach’s plexus, sometimes they occur more posteriorly. These are far less common and will likely drain down the throat. So, to answer the debated question — when treating these pesky nosebleeds do I tilt my head forwards or backwards? First aid standards have changed throughout the years, making it difficult to keep up with the right practice.

Tilting your head backwards is common misconception. Currently, Red Cross standards and most clinicians inform us to sit neutral, tilt head slightly forward, pinch the bridge of the nose, and wait for 10-15 minutes. The idea is that you want the blood to clot where the artery burst, giving the body enough time to repair the damage.

Imagine there’s a hole in your garden hose, and you squeeze it closed with your hand until someone can come by with a patch kit.
By holding the bridge of the nose, you slow blood flow and help encourage clotting.
If your head was tilted backwards, the blood would flow away from the damage site, and it wouldn’t be able to clot.

It’s also likely the blood will rush back down the esophagus, creating a choking hazard and potentially irritation when the blood reaches the stomach. Another treatment that has been researched is icing the bridge of the nose. By constricting the blood vessels, it also slows the flow of the blood and promotes clotting.

And (spoiler alert) it doesn’t work out. Try as they might, the Scoops Troop, superhero El, Jim “The Hero of Hawkins” Hopper, and the rest of the gang come out scathed — very, very scathed.

Brenner, i.e. “Papa,” is waiting with a 10,000-pound sensory deprivation tank. There’s an invisible murderer on the loose in Hawkins, and the good doctors think only El can help defeat him. So Brenner (Matthew Modine) pushes his former charge to the brink of her origin story, where she learns that Vecna, the evil ruler of the Upside Down behind the killings, is actually One, Brenner’s first test subject.

In a deeply buried memory, El discovers that she was the one who sent Vecna to the other dimension after an epic battle between the two.
That knowledge sparks her powers back up.
Let’s be clear: A lot of people are dead.
But the death of the man El called papa is a biggie.
His demise also represents El leaving behind her traumatic past in Brenner’s lab and his influence over her.

“Papa does not tell the truth,” she repeats when Brenner tries to force her to stay in the underground facility instead of getting to Hawkins to help her friends destroy Vecna. It’s teenage rebellion and a come-to-Jesus moment wrapped in one. When her problematic father figure gets shot down by a sniper, so does El’s guilt and shame over being the most powerful person on the planet.

They’ve been separated by supernatural forces and Demogorgan matters before, as well as a temporary breakup during season 3 when Mike was pulling away from El because Hopper had threatened him.

The show has always seemed to put the two of them at its center, even when the other couples separate. That’s why it’s so surprising that in season 4, the couple run into issues after El accuses Mike of not loving her anymore as they work around their long-distance relationship.

“There’s an effort there that Mike and Eleven, because they’re so in love, and they love each other so much, and they’ve gone through so much together,” explained Finn. “That’s what’s so beautiful about, It’s that they don’t have normal life and this is the way that it is for them and that’s what makes it so special.” Millie also explained that although the couple is sure to face some issues, she doesn’t think a breakup is in the works for the two.

“It’s like they’re married and there’s no option of divorce,” she said. “So it’s like, it’s inevitable. They’ll always be together. And you get to see some real relationship issues that they both have to face this season, which I think is really funny, and it’s very comedic, but it’s also very real.” Phew! Why doesn t Eleven get her powers back?

The highly-anticipated installment came nearly three years after season 3, and was split into two parts.

The first seven episodes, a.k.a. volume 1, debuted on May 27, and volume 2 just dropped in the early hours this morning. Even though there are only two episodes in this release, they’re super-sized and extremely action-packed. A major storyline in Stranger Things season 4 is struggle finding her identity and dealing with the fact that she no longer has powers.

In the season 3 finale, she lost them due to overextending herself in the fight against the Mind Flayer, and it takes her a long time to even start getting them back. Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4. In Stranger Things season 4 volume 1, Eleven agrees to start working with Dr.

What she doesn’t know is that Dr.

Although she initially wants out, she agrees to work with the both of them and it works out for the most part. Dr.
Owens and Dr.
Brenner each other out, with Brenner taking a harsher approach and wanting fast results, while Owens puts Eleven’s wellbeing first.

Eleven regains some of her powers temporarily in season 4 volume 1, but it’s not until she learns a shocking discovery by going back far into her past does she get them back fully.

Did Eleven become more powerful?

Eleven’s Powers Don’t Work The Way She Thought They Did – Eleven’s training began under Dr. Brenner, who learned how these powers work through, From Creel, Brenner learned these powers respond to negative emotions such as anger, and flashbacks confirm he suspected Eleven’s potential in large part because of the repressed rage he sensed burning within her.

Creel reinforced this idea when he attempted to encourage Eleven to experiment with her powers, telling her the secret lay in unleashing her anger.
He saw the same things within Eleven that Dr.
Brenner feared, but he sought to use them.
Eleven learned a similar lesson in Stranger Things season 2, when she went to her ” Lost Sister ” Kali for help.

Like Eleven, Kali had learned everything she knew about her powers under Dr. Brenner’s teaching, and she too believed anger was the key to true power. She had let that anger consume her, becoming absolutely committed to revenge on Dr. Brenner and all his colleagues in the,

But season 2 actually subtly suggests Kali was wrong, because Eleven rejected her philosophy – and, by extension, rejected the perspective of both Vecna and Dr. Brenner.
Eleven’s powers are not rooted in anger; they are rooted in love.
Stranger Things season 4’s flashbacks revealed Eleven was only able to banish Vecna into the Upside-Down when she experienced a buried memory of her mother’s love.

In season 2, Eleven accomplished one of her greatest feats to date – closing the Gate to the Upside-Down – when she was fighting to defend the friends she loves. Returning to season 4, Eleven was only able to blast away from Max when she heard Mike speaking words of love and encouragement to her. The end of Stranger Things season 4 saw Eleven demonstrate greater power than ever before. Vecna successfully killed Max, and somehow her death tore apart the boundary between Hawkins and the Upside-Down. But, incredibly, Eleven refused to accept Max’s death.

Fueled by her memories of her friend,, and in so doing she appears to have affected Vecna’s entire plan in some mysterious way. The boundary closed again, and it took Vecna two days to lick his wounds and somehow force it open once more. It’s currently unclear how Eleven’s resurrection powers work. They haven’t completely restored Max, because her body is still broken, and her mind remains absent, as Eleven confirmed when she tried to enter it again.

It’s possible the key to Max’s survival lay in the fact Eleven was inside her mind, psychically connected to her at the moment of her death. The Duffer brothers have modeled Eleven on the X-Men’s Jean Grey, and in X-Men comics Jean’s telepathic powers were boosted when, as a child, she experienced the death of her best friend Annie.

Even Jean wasn’t able to do what Eleven has done, however, as she seemingly resurrects, However this power may work, it’s important to note how Eleven unlocked it. It was done through love, not through rage, as Eleven remembered all the moments she had spent with her best friend – her only female friend.

Eleven’s love for Max served as an anchor to her power, allowing her to use it in a way even Vecna had never displayed. This twist raises the exciting possibility she will go on to discover even greater powers in Stranger Things season 5, as the Hawkins kids battle against Vecna and the forces of the Upside-Down.

The two-day pause between Max’s initial death and the Upside-Down invasion meant the stars of the show all had the time to gather at Hawkins, with Eleven even learning her adopted father Hopper was still alive. If are rooted in love, then she now has all she needs to beat Vecna; all those Eleven loves have gathered together, meaning she will fight in their defense.

Why was Eleven more powerful?

Since the first season, it’s been explained that El’s powers would manifest whenever she was faced with a massive emotional conflict such as fear, sadness or anger.
But once her powers were awakened, they often led to devastating results for whoever was caught in her sights.
Now, in Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1, it’s finally been revealed what the root cause of her powers has been all along and how it’s evolved since she was a small child.

But in doing so, more revelations were made present such as the identity of Brenner’s first subject, One.
At first, One acted as an orderly who would help El handle the bigger kids who often criticized and bullied her.
One told El that often what would help, at least for him, was a memory that made him both sad and angry.
